Rockbridge Seminary is MORE than just a traditional seminary offering courses online. It is designed from the ground up to be a DIFFERENT KIND of seminary.

Here are 5 DIFFERENCES that were designed into the LEARNING INFRASTRUCTURE of Rockbridge Seminary:

Learning in Context

100% online. No weekend classes. No intensive seminars. No long lectures to watch by video. No online classes that meet at a certain time.

A new kind of learning that maximizes the cloud learning environment. Log-in each day according to your schedule.

Clear learning outcomes that are ministry-focused. Learning pathways unit-by-unit with learning exercises that add value to your ministry context. Learning that integrates seminary and ministry to the point that it may be hard to tell where one stops and the other starts.

Focused on Your Calling

Reconnect with your ministry calling in the Touchstone Course.

Get a time line perspective of God’s shaping in your life. Complete ministry competency assessments. Write a Personal Learning Plan that becomes a learning filter throughout seminary.

Design and conduct non-course projects that help you focus on five competencies where you need custom development. Present evidence of your proficiency in an E-Portfolio.

In the Capstone Course, write a Personal Life Mandate that guides your learning beyond seminary.

Development of Ministry Competencies

Rockbridge Seminary has identified 35 ministry competencies that are used to assess, develop, strengthen, and prepare servant leaders.

Each seminary program is designed with specific competency outcomes.

Each course helps you develop a specific competency.

Supported by Local Mentors

Learn in the Touchstone Course how to recruit ministry mentors and benefit from their support.

Recruit a local mentor for each course.

A ministry coach who helps you apply in context what you are learning.

Learning Enriched by Community

The online community is robust, vibrant, strengthening, broadening. Everyone is in ministry – struggling with ministry reality, not theories. Discussions matter. The problems and issues are real.

U.S. and non-U.S. students learn and share. The context is authentic, from today.

Look together through a global, Kingdom lens.

Begin your application now.

  1. I will treasure for the remaineder of my life the learning experiences at Rockbridge Seminary. Every course allowed me to grow in developing spiritual disciplines that I needed in my ministry. Each project that was created was practical and implemented into the various ministries within my church. Rockbridge Seminary has the BEST professors who are willing to help their students. Our 3 founders are visionaries and I’m so thankful they were obedient in allowing God to lead them to establish this excellent seminary for such a time as this.

  2. After researching many different seminaries I decided to attend RS. One of the reasons I enjoyed RS is due to the practical approach to learning how to do ministry. I love the balance of the 5 purposes of the church and also how to incorporate them into my personal life.

We also had some of the best professors from around the world that not taught the courses, but are in full time ministry going through the same challanges that the student’s are. It is great to have professors that all hold doctor degrees and are serving at the highest level.

RS is also a very hands on seminary that help you connect not only with your professor, but all the other student’s in your classes. I also like the fact that each and every class you had you were required to have a mentor that could provide additional insight as well.

  3. Rockbridge Seminary provides an exceptional opportunity for pastors and volunteers alike to learn while they serve, develop a much richer understanding of the Bible, and explore their calling. Rockbridge is unique in many ways, including its learner-centric ministry competency approach. Students are able to tailor their course of studies and ministry projects to develop in the areas most important for their ministry and calling, along with a core set of courses in theology and the purposes of the church.

I was so pleased with my experience in obtaining a Master of Ministry Leadership at Rockbridge that I re-enrolled to pursue a M.Div. The whole time I have been able to continue to serve in bivocational ministry and to see wonderful application of what I was learning. Their approach is 100% online, highly practical, Biblically faithful, and engaging. I did not expect to find such a high level of interaction with professors and other students in an online program. And the cost of Rockbridge is very favorable compared to other seminaries. I would very highly recommend it to anyone considering going to seminary.
