Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary is committed to the conviction that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as originally written are God’s inerrant Word inspired by His Spirit and therefore are the only, sufficient, and infallible authority for faith and practice. Foundational to the character and mission of the seminary is its identity as a confessionally Reformed institution. Each faculty member, the seminary as an institution, and its supporting and governing denominations, Heritage Reformed Congregations, and Free Reformed Churches, subscribe the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith as expressed in the Ecumenical Creeds and the teaching of the Reformed faith as expressed in the Three Forms of Unity (The Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort) and the Westminster Standards of the 1640s. From these sources flow our Reformed perspective, our value system, our motivation for ministry, and our curricular emphases.

The specific goals of theological training at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary are:

  • To prepare men for the gospel ministry who will be able to understand and expound the Scriptures and who will truly believe, cordially love, and faithfully endeavor to propagate and defend Reformed theology.
  • To develop in the student an understanding of biblical experience and to promote his commitment to practical godliness, devotional piety, and Christian conduct in his personal, family, and ministerial life.
  • To equip the student with teaching, ministry, counseling, and leadership skills as well as to facilitate an understanding of human relationships, Christian living, and church administration, thereby assisting him to become a sound, sensitive, and edifying servant of the Word in his future ministry.
  • To provide for the church of Jesus Christ a supply of able and faithful ministers, missionaries, evangelists, and teachers qualified to divide the Word of truth rightly, to defend the Reformed faith and world view, and to win souls for Christ, caring for their eternal welfare and striving to promote holiness and peace among their people.

Since there is a pervasive impact of Reformed principles on all of life and on every aspect of the Christian ministry, the seminary aims to diligently expound, apply, and defend these goals and perspectives in every division and department of its curriculum

  1. I’m a graduating ThM student at PRTS. There is no a greater privilege in the Seminary more than being taught by professors who wholeheartedly believes that the Bible is the Word of God. At PRTS, I found the truth of the Word of God, I found myself, I found my future ministry, and I found a life long brothers and sisters, and friends who are in Christ, and who are from different parts of the world. Besides education, PRTS offers different jobs for students in the way which does not affect their study time. We also refresh ourselves playing ping-pong in the basement… I Love to Play Ping Pong. Thank you PRTS for training me.

  2. PRTS cannot be described any better this.
It is the school of preachers, theologians, pastors, and scholars.
No other words are necessary than these.

  3. PRTS is a place where true biblical treasure of theology can be found. A perfect sync of ministry and academics.

  4. Of course PRTS is one of the best seminaries in the US, with a reformed heritage, spiritual mentors, academical teaching and godly professors and staff.

  5. Godliness is the center of the curriculum. Students and staff alike.

  6. I’m a third year student, planning to graduate in the Th.M. program this summer. Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and faculty possesses a wonderful combination of Biblical, confessional, conservative, Reformed catholic (universal church), scholarly teaching, with an genuinely affectionate, warm-hearted devotion to the Triune God, that is committed to devoted and gentle piety with a zeal for the truth, and true fear of God.

I had the privilege of graduating from Westminster Theological Seminary some years ago, and getting the opportunity to serve a congregation as pastor for almost 15 years, and PRTS has been a unique benefit in teaching me how to better worship and serve God, and to love and grow Christ’s people, while being challenged to think more biblically, more clearly, to write more effectively, to preach more faithfully.

If you’re a young man seeking the ordained ministry, make a visit to Puritan Reformed, and meet some of the faculty, and you will be able to get acquainted not only with men who are able and godly teachers and professors, but men, whose lives, you will want to imitate in their gentleness and zeal and love for the truth! Here is a place you can be taught how to “watch your life and doctrine closely”.

  7. Distance program review: I’m taking Greek and Hebrew courses via PRTS’s distance learning program, and it has been an excellent experience. Admin is straightforward and helpful, faculty is invested and responsive, and the online platform is fully functional with few hiccups. The curriculum is well laid out for independent study and requires (which I think is a good thing) a lot of practice by way of assignments and quizzes in every unit. I particularly appreciate the built in review of previous material alongside new material; with languages that is really crucial for long-term learning. The distance learning program compares favourably with other online programs I’ve done and I highly recommend it.

  8. Very sound biblical training that surpasses other seminaries I have seen, good combination of practical theological training. Move subject matter address available for all degrees. The staff is warm and understanding, not a degree factory.

  9. A seminary where the Word of God is rightly divided and where the experiential application of Scripture is one of their main goals. The professors are willing to help all the time and the staff is very friendly. The financial aid is extraordinary. You not only learn theology, but you find yourself around a group of people of the whole world, you learn new cultures and even taste new food, it is an amazing experience to study at PRTS.

  10. A great institution to receive a confessionally reformed seminary education.

All the faculty and staff are always willing to serve and love the students.

    Strong emphasis on biblical piety.

Passionate about the Word of God and to teach the students to preach and propagate it.

    Very affordable tuition.

  11. I only rated the seminary 5 stars because it will not let me select 6 stars! Amazing faculty, challenging courses, excellent facilities, and accommodating staff.

  12. Very sound biblical training, good combination of theological training and piety. God’s blessings!

  13. Great Reformed Conservative place to prepare ministers.

    Very sound academically

Great fellowship with godly faculty, staff and students

  14. Excellent learning environment and good financial aid to needy but deserving students from across the world

  15. PRTS’s Certificate in Systematic Theology is perfect for any student who wants high quality theology training at a flexible pace. I couldn’t recommend PRTS more highly.

  16. I’m a third year student and this has got to be the best seminary around. Faithful to God’s Word and with a loving and humble faculty who consider it an honor to train men for the ministry. The student base is from all over the world, it is a picture of the diversity we will share in heaven.
