The Seminary was founded in 1852 as the educational mission of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. 1. Picture this: a Latino immigrant Christian living in Memphis tennesee, studying in a Seminary that intentionally relocated in Memphis, TN in 1964, in the midst of strong racial tensions in the South; and in the midst of a strong and positive impact of the Civil Right Movement in the city. Real struggles, real needs, and real challenges requiere discernmente, scholarship, fellowship, and actions. MTS is focused on ministry for a real world, and what a best place to immerse in the real world than Memphis, TN. I always say that our identity is shaped and reshaped by lasting relationships and meaninful experiences. My MTS meaningful experience has reshaped my identity through studying and minstering among the immigrant communities, and has challenged me to continue in my ministry with a vision of reaching out a real world in need of experiencing a real and lasting relationship with Jesus Christ right where the peole are!!
