When we asked Bexley Hall’s students and faculty to describe the seminary in a single word, they called Bexley intimate, friendly, diverse, and accommodating, as well as liberal, postmodern and overtly inclusive.
These adjectives catch the flavor of this unusual Episcopal seminary on the campus of Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. Founded in 1823, Bexley was the westernmost of the church’s first three seminaries. Today, thanks to our rich and rigorous academic offerings, our small and supportive campus community, and our innovative partnerships with other schools, we remain on the cutting edge of our church. Bexley Hall is entering into a federation with Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, beginning in 2013, to become one seminary with two campuses.
We believe that God is always calling the church to reform itself, while remaining true to the essentials of two thousand years of tradition. Our mission is to prepare students as fully and completely as possible for Christian ministry in a pluralistic world.
Our motto says it all – Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine: Courageously Bear the Cross!
