Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is a place:

  • Where the Bible is inerrant, and the sufficiency of Scripture is more than just a catch phrase.
  • Where the priority of the pulpit is maintained, music is sacred, and women’s ministry is valued.
  • Where the local church is honored, and Baptist distinctives are revered.

These things have been at our core since 1908, when God worked through B.H. Carroll to start a “school of prophets,” a seminary in the southwest. Two years later, his vision found a home on Seminary Hill in Fort Worth, Texas. In the town where the west begins, God established a place for equipping men and women to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.

Since 1908, more than 40,000 men and women have come here from every state and hundreds of nations. They graduated, ready to work in harvest fields across the globe. They are local pastors, leaders in theological education, and missionaries around the world. This imprint of our heritage defines us and drives us forward.

Southwestern is a place where evangelism is more than a fashionable term; it’s a way of life. It is a place where equality in Christ is celebrated in our diversity. Here, following in the footsteps of Jesus means washing the feet of “the least of these.”
At Southwestern, our history is filled with faithful servants, and our hallways are filled with thousands more. Come, and find your place at Southwestern, where we Preach the Word and Reach The World.

In a day when varying worldviews bombard you at every turn, you must have a strong biblical foundation in order to engage the culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The College at Southwestern prepares you to fulfill God’s call on your life by enhancing your passion for Christ, Scripture and reaching the lost. You also benefit from small group breakout sessions after lecture for discussion with your classmates. Before you graduate, we send you to some of the most demanding international locations to practice what you have learned: perhaps on the streets of Mumbai, India; or in an African village; or in a dusty town in Mexico.

  1. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is an incredible school. I am incredibly impressed with the academics, the professors, and the overall atmosphere at SWBTS. I would definitely recommend this school.

  2. Great environment with friendly people.
Good place to study and discuss theology.

  3. As an alumni, I am profoundly disappointed in Southwestern’s apparent unconcern. The web site is complicated. Attempts to register or “get in” are rejected. Finding the place to post ministry jobs is next to impossible. I even called and no one answered. Extremely disappointed but there are other simpler places to post ministry opportunities.
