The purpose of RTS is to serve the church in all branches of evangelical Christianity, especially the Presbyterian and Reformed family, by preparing its leaders, with a priority on pastors, and including missionaries, educators, counselors, and others through a program of theological education on the graduate level, based upon the authority of the inerrant Word of God, the sixty-six books of the Bible, and committed to the Reformed faith as set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms as accepted by the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America as its standard of doctrine at its first General Assembly in 1789. This program shall be characterized by biblical fidelity, confessional integrity, and academic excellence, and committed to the promotion of the spiritual growth of the students. The breadth of this ministry will include multiple campuses and extensions as led by the Lord.

  1. I have been a student at RTS Virtual for over a year and half and I have been quite happy with my experience. At first I was leary at doing an online program for my masters having loved being on campus for my bachelors, but I must say RTS does such a great job with their online program that I feel I am getting a quality education. The classes are certainly rigorous, but I have learned so much from being a part of them. I also love the fact that you are not working in semester’s but you start whatever class you want when you are ready. Another great note about RTS Virtual is that you get to study with some great professors.

  2. When I first sensed a call to prepare for ministry, a pastor friend advised me that no seminary is perfect. But when considering the total picture my wife and I found RTS/Orlando to be a sound choice. The faculty – guys like Swain, Hill, Muether and Futato – are excellent scholar-teachers that are committed to raising up thoughtful pastors who know how to interpret the Scriptures and who love the Reformed faith. Our local church has been very faithful in ministering to us and mentoring me throughout my studies. The Oviedo area is a fantastic place to live, and the financial aid offered by RTS is very generous.

  3. I’m a second year M’Div student who moved from out of state to come to RTS-Orlando. The faculty at RTS are learned in their fields, pastoral in their heart for students, and devoted to teach theology which leads to doxology. Through RTS, I know I’m being equipped to “rightly divide God’s word of truth” for the good of His church.

  4. I’m in my first year on the Orlando campus, but thanks to RTS’s flexibility with their virtual campus and partnerships with parachurch ministries, I completed almost half of my degree before I ever got to campus. My greatest impression has been that the faculty, staff, and the whole system are designed to help students succeed in their studies and spiritual development. Most of my classes have been with professors who are true experts in their field and who are both gifted and eager to teach.

  5. During my time at RTS, my eyes have been opened to a greater understanding of the depth of God’s character as revealed through his word. While here, the faculty and staff have continually shown me they are “for me” and my success here. I have appreciated how accessible both my counseling and biblical studies professors have been in providing feedback and further insight into questions I’ve wrestled with in the midst of my studies and my own journey of faith. I am also grateful for the time I’ve spent under the training and wisdom of my clinic supervisors, as well as the care of my MAC community.

  6. We moved from New Zealand to Orlando six months ago to attend Reformed Theological Seminary! It has been the best move for us! We weighed up many seminaries that we could possibly attend and RTS came out on top for professors/education, location, student life & community, student housing, and scholarships/fees. Our experience so far has been amazing. We love it here and have already learned so much in class and built awesome friendships with other students!

  7. I’ve really enjoyed the opportunities to grow, learn and be challenged in community during my time at RTS. I’ve appreciated how accessible the professors are and how willing they are to engage and interact with students.

  8. First of all: who wouldn’t love to live 45 minutes from the beach, and where winter feels like a gorgeous northern summer? RTS Orlando is a great place to study, learn, and grow.

  9. RTS DC offers a rigorous curriculum and opportunity to interact with people with sincere hearts for the church and the Word of God. I’m in my second year of study and only regret that I haven’t found a way to become a full-time student!

  10. Don’t forget the Washington, D.C. campus. As a student in Washington and Orlando, I can say that both campuses exemplify a passion for ministerial effectiveness, theological richness, and personal formation that is rooted in the Reformed tradition. Now as a faculty member, I get to spend the day with these men and women and get paid for it.

  11. I am a 2006 Grad of RTS, Jackson and to put my two cents worth in, had a wonderful experience. The commitment to the inerrancy of scripture and the fellowship between student and faculty is exceptional. I would recommend the experience to anyone.

  12. I’ll just add my voice to the chorus of people who have been very satisfied with their experience at RTS Orlando. The faculty and staff are thoroughly committed to BOTH serious thought and reflection on faith and theology AND the spread of the Gospel.

  13. Why RTS Orlando? I came here after being deeply impacted by the kind of people this seminary produces. At least for me, this was one of the crucial questions to ask: What do people who come through this place become during their time here? RTS is not a perfect institution–no institution is–but as a rule I have found these folks to be some of the most eager recipients of God’s grace and passionate participants in his work that I have ever known. The RTS faculty, administration and student body not only understand the amazing gift of the gospel but also strive to embrace the costly demands of discipleship. I think it was this crucial combination that first attracted me to RTS and I have not been disappointed.

  14. I am a third year student at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL. My time at RTS has been nothing short of amazing. The seminary features a world-class faculty, incredible curriculum, vibrant student life, and is becoming increasingly robust in spiritual formation. During my period of discernment about where to go to seminary I researched and visited some of the top evangelical seminaries in the United States judging them based on their rigorous academic reputation (thoughtful students and future PhD candidates) and vibrant student life. There is simply no seminary in the country like RTS that combined not only a mind for truth, but a zealous passion for God. Praise God for his goodness and faithfulness to the RTS community.

    • Hi Greg, which other seminaries did you visit?

  15. I have been an RTS student at their virtual and Orlando campus. Going to RTS is everything I thought going to seminary would be. Having the ability to sit under the teaching of those like John Frame, Simon Kistemaker, Mark Futato, and countless others was amazing. I couldn’t have ask for a better seminary experience.
